Refreshed and ready to start 2014!

Lately we have been feeling cramped and unhappy with the way we had organized our rv. The girls have been wanting a space of their own and more room to play. The loft was just not working out. Their toys and books just sat up there collecting dust.

Originally the living room also housed the girls bed. The girls were feeling displaced as they didn't really have a space to call their own.

We have since moved the living room out of the garage so the girls can have their own room with space for their toys and hundreds (and hundreds) of books.

We will use the loft for extra storage.

We still have a few odds and ends to really organize ( like a big bookcase) but for now this is working out great! We love the new set up!!

         Before & After

Searching through Pinterest the other day I came across this fantastic blog :
http://inspirationstationfam.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.htm
It's about a family of 8 sharing their experiences of living in an RV. They have a section titled {How We Organize the RV} and after watching the videos I was definitely inspired! All four of us share the closet and dresser in the front bedroom and I have been searching for ideas to make it more functional.
I love what I was able get accomplished in the closet space this week. First I went through all of our clothes (for the umpteenth time) to donate. I ended up with 5 bags of clothes and tons of extra hangers. Don't get worn....GONE! Too small.... GONE! Out of season....GONE! Might wear it someday....GONE!

Next I swapped out the thick plastic hangers for thin coated wire hangers. I was able to find thin no-slip wire hangers as well. Originally I only bought a few packs because i was unsure of how much space this would actually save. I was pleasantly surprised! About 1/2 as much space...
These are the "after" photos of the closet. I don't have a "before" but trust me it was so disorganized! The clothes hanging were jam packed and we had 4-5 baskets full of clothes on the floor leaving little to no room to maneuver between the bed and closet.
Now the girls' shirts, pants/shorts, pj's & underwear are all in the 6 cube hanging organizer. My jeans & sweatshirts are now in the 3 drawer organizer. We do still have 2 dirty clothes baskets pictured on the left. One for Matt's work clothes and the other for everything else. I love that laundry only takes 1 hour, one day per week to get done. One perk of using the laundry mat...
There is also all of this dresser space for clothes storage! We keep our printer/scanner/fax and Matt's Xbox 360 in here as well.
Besides the organizing we really haven't done much updating in our room. When we first moved in we did remove the Road Warrior sign, window treatments, wall paper border, and the closet mirror doors. We also replaced the bed with a brand new Queen mattress.
*Up next on the list is paint for the walls, curtain for the closet, and built in night stands similar to this one here:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/205687907954568002/
           Before & Today

We LOVE our new front porch! The girls and their neighbor friend have already taken full advantage of it by building a fort underneath.  I can hear them giggling under there making some kind of mud pie experiment....
After Lexis' soccer game yesterday {which they won 6-0. Go Bumblebees!!} we headed over to Currell's Do It Center to pick up all of the supplies.
Obviously this deck could not have been built without the help of a Monster...
The finished product! Now all we need to add are some pumpkins, fall decorations, new door mat, deck stain..... Well darn, guess that means I'll have to go shopping... :)

I am so excited I cannot wait for this weekend! For the longest time we have been planning to build a front porch for our house. {and by WE I mean Matt...} Crossing my fingers Matt will have no work on Saturday so we can get this thing done. Not only does a front porch just look more "homey", but for us short people it's a little awkward climbing the RV steps at just the right angle to have the ability to simply open the front door. Add a few bags of groceries into the equation and it gets frustrating pretty quickly. PHOTO's COMING SOON!!!
          KITCHEN/DINING ROOM UPDATE:

Aaaaah! Feels so much cozier. NOT like a bland hotel room like before. Just need to add some curtains. And get the rest of the house painted....

So I have been searching craigslist and local shops for months it seems like for the perfect dining set. Finally FOUND IT! Pub height table with leather bar stool chairs listed on craigslist. This morning the girls and I drove the 1 1/2 hours to Moore,OK to pick it up.
To break up the trip we found a little park to stop at in Yukon. Timed obstacle courses, swings, and a short walk.
And of course since we were in Yukon we had to stop at Target! There is no Target in Elk City :( The closest one is in Yukon which is about an hour away. I seriously get Target withdraws living so far away! No joke. Anyway I found the perfect rug there for the dining area. On clearance 50% off. Originally $80 paid $40. Score!
Made it home and made tater tot/green bean casserole for dinner. Simple & quick & everyone loves it! I forgot to get a "before" pic of the dining area but here is the After! Still not complete but getting there.
